Ashghal held a community meeting in Al Sailiya Sport Club yesterday to announce the completion of the works of all main roads and other infrastructural development of the area.
The meeting was attended, among others, by Al Rayyan Municipality director Rashed al-Nuaimi, and member of the 13th Constituency of the Central Municipal Council Mohamed bin Hamad al-Marri.
Besides a number of the residents of the area, Ashghal’s Road Projects Department manager and senior engineer Saoud al-Tamimi and some other section heads were also present. While answering the queries of the participants, al-Tamimi explained the benefits of the new projects and also briefed the residents of the new projects to be taken up in the area.
The senior official said the new projects serve approximately 820 residential units in addition to schools, mosques and commercial outlets planned for construction within their jurisdiction. The area has approximately 22km of roads. The project also provides street lighting, pavements, car parking, pedestrian walkways, cycle ways, and road signage to enhance the level of service provided and improve traffic safety in the area. Al-Tamimi said the entire project is divided into two packages, of which the  first covers areas north of Salwa Road on the road leading to the Barwa Complex in Al Sailiya. The second package consists of localities north of those places in the Package 1. This area where large-scale construction is going on is earmarked for  the residential development in the area. Some residential buildings and other infrastructure facilities are now under construction there.
Al-Tamimi said the project has facilitated advanced infrastructure in the area that would ultimately help manage collecting surface and ground water. The project also has discharge facilities and foul sewer system for connection to the future trunk sewage networks, which will be conducted as part of a project that links Salwa road to Al Sailiya main road.
The construction of the trunk sewage networks will commence shortly and it will provide the necessary networks along the Al Attiya Housing Road. The Al Attiya Housing Road will also be upgraded to provide improved road infrastructure, including a central road median, street lighting and upgraded road junctions.
While welcoming the decision to hold meeting with the residents of the area, CMC member Mohamed bin Hamad al-Marri said such meetings provided the area’s residents with chances to explain their needs and requirements. “It also provides municipal authorities an opportunity to find some ways to solve issues faced by the residents”, he said.
The other supplementary works are scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2018, it was informed at the meeting.
