The recently launched Qatar Al Youm (Qatar Today) Twitter and Instagram
accounts have attracted increasing numbers of followers and likes due to
its distinguished content of instant local news and comments on key
events.
The accounts, which posts and share local news in Arabic, attracted more
public attention after the blockade, as its pages have received more
than 130,000 followers from Twitter and Instagram users. The stories and
news video clips have been liked by thousands of users. Qatar Al Youm
shares and posts news to raise people’s awareness about the blockade and
the relevant issues, supported by infographics and factual
information.
The administrators of these accounts stressed they are keen to post
breaking news to raise public awareness. In addition, news are posted in
interesting videos or in a form of commentaries accompanied with
related videos.
“Our goal is to post local news that raise public awareness about the
current situation based on reliable sources,” pointed out one of the
main founders of the pages.
He added that all the efforts of the founders are part of their way of
expressing their love for their country Qatar and to tell people about
the facts and the events taking place.
