The Qatari team triumphed in the 12-hour world championship tour for endurance racing at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps motor racing circuit in Belgium. 
The trio of Abdullah al-Khulaifi, Mahmoud al-Khalaf and Mansour al-Hajri finished first in the Cup 1 category after two gruelling days of racing. On the first day of endurance racing, which lasted for three hours, the Qatari team started from third place but al-Khulaifi was at his best as they finished the day top spot. On the second day, al-Hajri and al-Khalaf continued the good work and maintained first place to emerge as winners after nine hours of racing.
Around 48 teams took part in the championship in different categories. The Qatar team participated in the championship with the support of the Qatar Automobile and Motorcycle Federation under the chairmanship of Abdulrahman bin Abdul Latif al-Mannai. The al-Khulaifi was delighted with the result, stressing that the competition was strong especially in difficult climatic conditions. 
“The rain put us under lot of pressure. We followed a strategy for tire changes and it worked. Though we lost some time due to rain, we managed to take the lead and maintain it till the end,” he said.
