Tanghalang Overseas Pinoy (TOPi) recently held an outreach programme at POLO-OWWA called “Share a Blessing.” The primary objective of the event was to hand over two one-way flight tickets to selected distressed Filipino workers in the country.
TOPi is a non-profit Filipino group promoting Filipino culture through theatre arts. The event was made possible because of the success of their musical show “Scenes from the Stage – A tribute to Original Filipino Musicale” held at City Centre Rotana earlier in September.
A part of the proceeds from the show was allocated to providing flight tickets to distressed Filipino expatriates in Doha.
The outreach event was attended by Philippine Labour Attaché David Des Dicang, UFOQ Vice President Jaffar Abdelhamid and UFOQ Treasurer Layla Bernal.
TOPi together with representatives from Oman Air and Resettlement Solution handed over the flight tickets directly to the recipients.
The beneficiaries were very happy to receive the flight tickets, saying they can finally go back home to their families. They also prayed for the rest of their friends to have faith and told them that they too will eventually get to go home.
To make the event fun and exciting, TOPi arranged some games, handed over donations of clothes, food, canned goods, noodles and toiletries to the attendees. The group also performed several song numbers to the delight of the crowd.
TOPi also collaborated with the Naseem Al Rabeeh Medical Clinic to offer free medical check-ups during the event.

TOPi also held a ceremony to hand over certificates of appreciation to their partners for their support, which made their previous show possible.
“We are very thankful for the generous contributions of their members, friends, colleagues and Naseem Al Rabeeh Medical Clinic who wholeheartedly assisted and shared their blessings with our fellow Filipinos in Doha who are in need. We also would like to thank the support and trust of our sponsors like Resettlement Solution, Max’s, Al Dana Cosmetic & Implant Dentisty Center, L’arc En Ciel, Kabayan Express, Mezza Restaurants, Oman Air, City Centre Rotana, LiQha, Kulay, LBC Express, Gharissa Ice Cream, UFOQ, media partners and Filipino community leaders who helped make this project possible.
“The process in preparing for this show was very tough, we faced a lot of obstacles along the way, but we still continued, persevered, and believed that we need to push through up to the last minute to deliver our commitment to our beneficiaries. At the end, it all paid off and we are very happy,” said TOPi President Bryan Ricafrente.
TOPi is now preparing for their future projects, lined up from October until March 2018. They will be having weekly auditions for aspiring members to join their group.
