Qatar Airways and Rolls-Royce, one of the airline’s major strategic
partners, hosted a training programme yesterday as part of the airline’s
Al Darb Qatarisation programme, an initiative that develops young
talent to become the future leaders of the national carrier.
During the interactive workshop, which took place at Oryx Rotana Doha,
the group explored various engineering activities that take place at
aero-engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce and looked at how the company’s
latest engine technologies are generating maximum value and lower
operating costs.
The workshop delivered by Rolls-Royce professionals was attended by
national employees as well as a wider group of pilots, engineers,
graduate developees and their coaches.
The session also looked ahead at the opportunities for the future
development of engine technology, including the availability of new
materials, digital technologies, data and analytics.
Qatar Airways senior vice-president - Human Resources Nabeela Fakhri
said: “We are delighted with our ongoing strong strategic partnership
with Rolls-Royce. This partnership connects our employees with some of
the world’s best aviation experts, equips them with the skills and
knowledge they need, and inspires them to become the future leaders of
our award-winning airline.”
A Rolls-Royce spokesman said: “This event was a real demonstration of
the enduring partnership between Qatar Airways and Rolls-Royce, which is
underpinned by learning and developing together. It was particularly
important to host this event in Doha, which enabled us to engage with a
wide audience of graduates and share with them the insights from one of
our leading engineers.”
Now in its fifth year, the Al Darb Qatarisation programme presents young
nationals with local and international career opportunities through
eight different programmes and 35 different majors across the airline’s
various departments.
The tailor-made programme supports, develops and nurtures young talent
and equips them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in
their field of choice in the airline.
An Arabic word that means ‘The Pathway’, Al Darb highlights the
different career paths that individuals can take with Qatar Airways.
Through initiatives such as its Summer Internship programme and Graduate
Developee programme, Al Darb provides graduates with real-life projects
in numerous locations across the globe that add to their work
experience and prepares them for a successful career at Qatar Airways.
