The Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced that Qatar’s national team will play friendlies against Singapore and Curacao in October. The games will be played on October 5 when Qatar face Singapore. Al Anabi will also face Curacao on October 10. Both international friendlies will be played at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium. It was also revealed that the U-23 squad is scheduled to host Mexico on October 8 at the same venue. 
Qatar is preparing for the AFC U-23 Championship set to take place in China in January. Coach Felix Sanchez, will announce the rosters for both squads after the conclusion of the third round of the QNB Stars League. Qatar U-23 qualified to the biannual event after topping their qualification group above Syria, India and Turkmenistan.

Qatar’s gymnastics team leave for Montreal World Championships 
Qatar’s gymnastics team has finished preparations for the 47th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships to be held in Montreal, Canada from October 2 to 8. Ahmed Saleh Nasser al-dayani and Ahmed Nabil Moussa left for Montreal on Tuesday to continue their preparations. 
Mohammed al-Maraghi, member of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Gymnastics Federation, said Qatar’s gymnasts had undergone an intensive training sessions to during the camp in Doha and hoped that their hard work will show in their performance. 
Qatar to participate in volleyball FIVB Challenger League
Qatar’s national volleyball teams committee has unanimously agreed to take part in the first edition of the Men’s FIVB Challenger League, to be held in the summer of 2018. 
The decision was taken at during the meeting held on Wednesday at the headquarters of the Qatar Volleyball Association (QVA) in the 
presence of President Ali bin Ghanim al-Kuwari and members of the QVA Board of Directors Mubarak Eid al-Abdullah and Saeed Salem 
al-Jamaani as well as the technical expert
Hussein Imam. The QVA has received an official invitation from the International Federation to participate in the FIVB Challenger League, which is an alternative competition for the teams that will not be able to participate in the World League under its new system.
The Qatari volleyball teams committee also discussed the preparation plan of the first team and the age groups in the coming period and reviewed the agenda of the Asian and international tournaments for all age groups.
Qatari swimmers off to Hong Kong for Swimming World Cup 
Qatari swimmers Yaqub Abdulaziz al-Khulaifi and Yousef Hisham Mohammad along with coach Yuriy Vlasov will leave for Hong Kong today to participate in the fourth round of the Swimming World Cup short-course (25 metre), which will be held tomorrow and Sunday.
The Qatari swimmers participated in the three previous rounds, while Abdullah Mohammed Abu Ghazaleh took part in the first round in Moscow in August. Abdulrahman Hisham Mohammed and Abdulaziz Hassan al-Obaidli participated in the second round in Berlin, while Abdulrahman Hisham, Abdulaziz al-Obeidli and Feras al-Saedi were in action in the third round in Eindhoven. The Qatari swimmers achieved eight new personal records in Eindhoven, where al-Obeidli set four new records in the 100m, 100m medley, 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 200m individual medley. While Hisham bettered his timings in 200m breaststroke and 200m individual medley and Feras al-Saedi improved his marks in the 400m and 50m freestyle. Qatar will host the fifth round of the World Cup on October 4 and 5 at Hamad Aquatic Centre.

Youth team shine in Football Friendly Tournament
Qatar Youth team led the standings of the International Football Friendly Tournament, following their 1-0 win over Croatia at the Aspire Zone playground. Forward Yousef  Abdulrazek netted Qatar’s only winning goal to raise the country’s tally to 8 points and stay at the top of the standings, while Croatia dropped to the second place with 6 points in their tally. In tomorrow’s fixtures, the home side Qatar will lock horn against Croatia in the clash for the first and second places, while Japan will take on Australia in the second match.  
The tournament is part of the Qatar’s youth team preparations for the Asian qualifiers that will be held in Doha from 4-8 November and qualify for the upcoming Asian U-19 Cup.
