The Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies will host a symposium tomorrow under the theme of “Leadership and Resilience in Emergency Management”.
The public event, from 11am to 1pm at Georgetown University in Qatar’s Education City campus, will celebrate the launch of the new regionally focused Executive Master’s in Emergency & Disaster Management degree.
The keynote address at the symposium will be given by HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada.
There will also be a panel discussion with industry experts including John Galt, the country manager for emergency and security at Qatar Shell; Dominic Genetti, the vice-president and joint interest manager at ExxonMobil Qatar; and Khalid al-Hashmi, the assistant undersecretary for cybersecurity at the Ministry of Transportation and Communication.
“This event marks a milestone for the new regionally focused Executive Master’s in Emergency & Disaster Management degree,” said Dr Kelly Otter, dean of the School of Continuing Studies. “We are looking forward to welcoming our first class of students, and to hearing industry experts share their insights.” 
The unique one-year programme aims to educate the next generation of emergency and disaster management professionals to help Qatar and the broader Middle East region meet the needs of their nations in the face of a diverse range of natural and man-made events.
