The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that the construction of 13 new schools and two kindergartens for the 2017-18 academic year has been completed.

Of these, 12 schools and two nurseries have been handed over to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for the new school year, which begins today, while another school is in the process of being delivered, the authority has said in a statement.
The total value of the new educational buildings is around QR878mn, with each school comprising 25 classrooms to accommodate 650 students and each kindergarten including 12 classrooms to cater to 240 pupils, the statement notes.
Ashghal also informed that it has accomplished the construction of 73 schools and 37 kindergartens within and outside Doha since 2013.
"The new educational facilities have been handed over as per the schedule and required specifications prior to the new academic year in light of Ashghal’s keen contribution to this vital sector as a top priority set by the country in Qatar National Vision 2030," the statement noted.

Also, the design of schools and kindergartens is in line with the Qatari code for people with special needs, providing ramps at entrances and exits with special specifications for restrooms and other areas.
