At least 150,000 Asian expatriates enjoyed several mega cultural and infotainment events organised by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) on the first and second days of Eid at Asian Town, Labour City, Barwa Baraha, Al Wakra Sports Club, Al Ahli Sports Club and Barwa Workers Recreation Complex in Al Khor.

Indian, Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan artistes and popular Asian orchestra teams performed various cultural events at Asian Town, Labour City and Barwa Baraha (playground).
Sri Lankan and Bangladeshi community teams and artistes from many Indian associations and Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) along with popular Asian orchestra troupes presented a number of spectacular shows.

Different departments under the MoI including Al Fazaa, General Directorate of Civil Defence, Community Police Department, Criminal Evidence and Investigation Department, General Directorate of Traffic, Human Rights Department along with International Work Relations Department at the MADLSA took part with a number of awareness programmes that helped to educate the workers about their rights and various safety and security measures.
The thematic drama on traffic safety, drugs and illegal work in Qatar presented by Sanskriti artistes captivated the audience with valuable information.
Popular performers from Nepal such as Rajesh Payel Rai, comedian Sandip Chhetri, Chanda Aryal, Pramila Shree Khanal and Amrita Limbu and Nepalese community teams and artistes showcased various musical and cultural shows including songs, solo dance, duet dance and group dances at Al Ahli Sports Club on the first and second days of Eid.
Famous Pakistani artistes Shahid Ali Khan, Khalid Malek, Khwaja Masoud, Nadiya Gul, Deepa Kiran and Mariya Khan performed various events for two days at Al Wakrah stadium.
Thousands of gifts were distributed to the attendees at all venues. The community members were much delighted to join the happy moments of Eid and they thanked the MoI and MADLSA for their care and concern.
Dignitaries from MoI and MADLSA participated in the events. Brigadier Abdullah Khalifa al-Muftah, director of Public Relations Department visited the venues along with many officers from different departments of MoI.
Khalid Abdullah Sultan al-Ghanem, director of International Workers’ Relations Department at MADLSA said that the co-operation with the MoI to organise the cultural events was a successful move that reflected the care of both ministries for the wellness of workers.
Colonel Ghanem Saad al-Khiyarain, head of External Branches at Community Policing Department said such activities, in addition to the entertainment programmes, provided an important awareness mission to the members of the communities in the aspects of security and safety, as well as the introducing the customs and traditions of the Qatari community.
Different Asian community representatives expressed their happiness for the support of the ministries for such great events. Janan Bangish (Pakistan), Tennison (Srilanka) and Vishal Mehta, head of Cultural Activities at ICC emphasised that such events would enhance the bonds of friendship between Asian peoples and Qatari community and thanked the ministries for their great support in promoting the communities in Qatar.
