HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi has issued decision no 277 for 217 regarding the extension of the ban imposed on herding camels in the open throughout the different areas of the country, until August 23, 2018.
The decision to extend the ban is an outcome of positive consequences achieved on the local environment, as many wild shrubs, trees and plant were able to grow in a healthy way and the meadow started to regain vitality.
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) pointed out in a statement yesterday that the local wild environment of the meadows is very sensitive and delicate, which requires more efforts for protection, especially since the rainfall was average in the past years. Besides, the MME appreciated the co-operation of the camel herd owners for the reasons behind the ban on herding in the open, which also affirms their care about the local wild environment.
In the meantime, the MME's wild life and environment protection patrols will monitor the implantation of this decision, and all the necessary legal procedures would be taken against the violators.
