The Doha International Centre for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) denounced the unfortunate events in Arakan province of Myanmar on Friday in which hundreds of innocent people were killed after burning their villages and homes. The centre stressed in a statement yesterday its total rejection of this racial conflict, which resulted in brutal treatment of more than 1mn Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. The centre attributed the main cause of the conflict to the large ethnic cleansing campaign conducted by the Myanmar security authorities against the Muslim minority, accompanied by gross human rights violations. The UN has described the Muslim Rohingya minority as “the most persecuted religious minority in the world,” and Human Rights Watch described those violations as ethnic genocide.
