Al Khor and Al Thakira Municipality's Health Control Section recently conducted an intensive inspection campaign of the food facilities and outlets in the municipality to ensure they were complying with the health regulations.
Inspectors checked the meat and meat products stored in the fridges of the storehouses and manufacturing places, in addition to a full check of the slaughterhouses.
Veterinarians took part in the campaign to ensure the safety of meat for human consumption and that the heath standards are strictly followed while processing and storing such products.
Meanwhile, the municipality warned people against dealing with unauthorised butchers who work outside licensed butcheries and slaughterhouses, as slaughtering animals elsewhere poses serious health risks and causes damage to the environment.
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment's Environmental Assessment Department conducted a training course on Monday and Tuesday in which 20 employees participated.
