The Ministry of Education and Higher Education revealed the Qatarisation of nearly 80% of the senior and middle positions in public schools at the level of academic and administrative deputies and co-ordinators. 
This is part of the implementation of its plan to build national capacities in the field of education, to coincide with the invitation of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, when he addressed citizens and residents in a speech in which he stressed the importance of self-reliance, diligence, creativity, independent thinking, constructive initiatives and interest in scientific achievement in all disciplines.
Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs Fawzia Abdulaziz al-Khater expressed, in a press statement about the preparations for the new academic year 2017-2018, her pride of Qatari cadres appointed in leading positions in the field of education.
She pointed out that the process of Qatarisation has gone through many stages and took more than two years.
She pointed out that these cadres were chosen on a competitive basis, including their achievements, outstanding performance, desire, motivation and future aspirations.
She expressed her confidence that the presence of Qatari cadres in leadership positions will reflect on improving the academic achievement of students, and thus the quality of educational outputs.
Al-Khater explained that the appointments included nine administrative and academic deputies in the posts of school principals, 11 stage managers in the position of school principals, 31 school resources co-ordinators were appointed as academic deputies, and 227 teachers were appointed as course co-ordinators.
"The ministry has invested in its children, and today it has reaped the fruits of its harvest, especially since it has created a school environment in which educators are respected, and this is the biggest transformation witnessed in the educational field, and it is a pride for each Qatari", she added.
Al-Khater said that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education aims to encourage and motivate Qatari teachers to take the highest leadership positions.
The ministry plans to upgrade 300 teachers to school resources co-ordinators, while all graduates - Qataris and non-Qataris - at the Faculty of Education at Qatar University who want to work in the teaching profession will also be appointed, in addition to attracting the graduates of different programmes, which is supervised by the ministry in partnership with the Faculty of Education, as well as attracting the best professionals in the field of education from outside Qatar, noting the completion of teaching and administrative staff in all public schools and its readiness to start its work with the beginning of the new school year.
