Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Bryce Treggs revealed on Monday he had been fined $25,000 by the NFL, apparently over a dangerous tackle against Green Bay Packers player Damarious Randall. Treggs, 23, criticized the fine in a post on Twitter, saying he was considering starting an online fund to help pay the penalty.
“I made league minimum last year and I just got fined 25K. I’m starting a gofundme to pay it,” said Treggs, who earned $450,000 last season. Randall, who was left concussed following the incident involving Treggs during a pre-season game on August 10, was unimpressed by the Eagles’ player’s complaint.
“Yo broke a** shouldn’t play dirty then,” Randall said in response to Treggs’ post. Treggs later deleted his Tweet amid a swirl of criticism. He later appeared to justify his grievance in two separate posts.
“As an undrafted guy fighting for a roster spot, you’re always trying to stand out on film. A lot of y’all don’t understand that,” Treggs wrote.
“My assignment was a force block on that play and I was trying to put a physical play on film. Nothing dirty about trying to earn a job.” Treggs struck Randall on the head during a three-yard run by LeGarrette Blount in the first quarter of their game. The fine comes as the NFL has vowed to take a tougher line on illegal hits to the head.

Giants’ WR Beckham suffers ankle sprain

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. suffered an ankle sprain after taking a heavy tackle in Monday’s preseason game against Cleveland, the Giants said. After catching a pass in the second quarter, the receiver was hit directly on his knee by Browns cornerback Briean Boddy-Calhoun.
The speedy pass catcher limped off the field before heading to the locker room in pain. The Giants said the 24-year-old suffered only an ankle sprain but would be evaluated further. Beckham has reached the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons in the NFL, establishing himself as one of the league’s most dangerous receivers. The Giants kick off their season at Dallas on Sept. 11.

Broncos replace Pierce with Williams
The Broncos released Bernard Pierce and replaced him by claiming fellow running back Stanley Williams off waivers.
Pierce, a third-round draft pick of Baltimore in 2012, appeared in 45 games in three seasons with the Ravens. However, he had only six carries for Jacksonville in 2015 and spent last season on injured reserve with the New York Jets.

Steelers’ Bell to miss another pre-season game

Pittsburgh Steelers star running back Le’Veon Bell, who has yet to report to training camp or sign his $12.12mn franchise tender, is expected to miss another pre-season game as he continues his holdout.
Bell plans to stay away from Week 3 of the preseason, but a source said he could be back shortly after Saturday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.
