Qatar Solar Technologies has acquired 49% of SolarWorld Industries, Germany's largest solar energy producer.
The announcement was made during a press conference held yesterday in Berlin, in the presence of Qatar's Ambassador to Germany Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Solar Technologies Dr Khaled al Hajri, and CEO of SolarWorld Industries Dr Frank Asbeck.
Sheikh Saud expressed Qatar's confidence in the German economy and the phrase "Made in Germany", stressing Qatar's determination to continue investing in various sectors of the German economy.
"Germany is a strategic partner of the State of Qatar at all levels," he said.
