Kasola is considered one of the most sought-after defenders in the QSL and has 65 caps for the national team. He was a fixture at the back for his former side Al Sadd. This is an important signing for Al Rayyan, who are looking for stability in their defence following the departure of Paraguayan international Victor Caceres. The 31-year-old Kasola will now join his new teammates for training ahead of the new QSL season. Rayyan returned from their pre-season training camp in Holland on Tuesday and will play their first league match against Al Khor on the 16th of September.
Al Arabi hand Jemal captain’s armband
Al Arabi have confirmed that Tunisian defender Ammar Jemal will be the new captain of the side. The club announced on their official social media accounts that the player, who was signed from Tunisian Ligue side Etoile Sportive du Sahel in July, will now lead The Dream Team next season.
Al Arabi head coach, Kais Yaâkoubi originally entrusted new signing Khalfan Ibrahim with the captain’s armband, however, the Qatari striker recommended his Tunisian teammate as the new captain of the side. Jemal has an extensive footballing resume having played at a high level in Europe, which includes stints in France, Germany and Switzerland.
The 33-year-old defender is currently with his side in Slovenia where they are involved in a pre-season training camp. The team is expected to return to Doha on August 26th ahead of the start of the new season.
Kings ink Habibou deal
Newly-promoted QSL side, Qatar SC announced the signing of Central African striker Habib Habibou from French side RC Lens on a season long deal.
The 30-year-old is vastly experienced in Europe having played in France, England and Belgium among others. He promises to be a great addition to the Kings’ arsenal which already includes Brazilian playmaker Bruno Gallo and recently-signed Qatari goal keeper Rajab Hamza.
Habibou is now expected to join Qatar SC in their preseason training camp in Slovenia from which they will return on the 28th of August.
Balotelli joins Al Gharafa
Al Gharafa have signed Brazilian centre-forward Jonathan Balotelli. After signing the contract, the player has now joined his new team at their preseason training camp in Turkey.
The 28-year-old makes the move to the QSL from Macedonian Prva Liga side Vardar Skopje. Balotelli was signed by the Cheetah’s as they look to strengthen their attacking line up ahead of the new season. It will be exciting to see how recently signed Chilean midfielder Luis Jimenez and Jonathan Balotelli will link up for Al Gharafa next season.
Al Gharafa are currently in Turkey for their pre-season training camp to prepare ahead of the QSL season. Under the guidance of head coach Jean Fernandez, the team is expected to return to Doha on the 22nd of August.
