The summer edition of Doha Comedy Festival (DCF) will bring together five internationally renowned stand-up comedians on stage on September 3 at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), it has been announced.

The event is organised and produced by The Social Studio and supported by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) as part of its support for Qatari businesses.
DFC forms part of the various entertainment shows presented by Qatar Summer Festival 2017.
Hosted by Palestinian-American Mo Amer, the show will include a diverse lineup of stars, including Iranian-American Maz Jobrani, ‘Lebanon’s King of Comedy’ Nemr and Indian-American Vir Das, who is performing in Qatar for the first time.
They will be joined by Qatar’s own pioneer in stand-up comedy, Hamad al-Ammari. In this edition, QTA said the mixed-heritage comedians would draw on their personal experiences to share the comical situations they found themselves in as immigrants in the West.
“The past editions of DCF proved to be very popular among our audiences, especially during the inaugural edition of Shop Qatar earlier this year.
Given that this year’s lineup includes some outstanding comedians, we are sure that the show will be a success,” QTA’s tourism festivals and events director Mashal Shahbik said in a statement.
“Throughout this edition of QSF, we have tried to develop events and promotions that appeal to all members of the family and enriches their experience in Qatar, these include shopping discounts, accommodation promotions and live shows, in addition to the Entertainment City,” she added.
The Social Studio also announced that tickets for DFC are now on sale at all branches of Virgin Megastore in Qatar and can be purchased online through the store’s website.
Tickets start at QR45 in the silver category and are available at QR99, QR149, QR199 and QR395 in the gold, platinum, VIP and royal categories, respectively.
QTA noted that the summer edition of DCF comes as a follow up to the winter edition that cemented its position as a "leader in the stand-up comedy scene" by hosting world-renowned comedians in Doha.
The collaboration with The Social Studio has produced three comedy festivals, each with its own flavour, with the biggest edition hosting Trevor Noah, the host of ‘The Daily Show’, and British ventriloquist Paul Zerdin.
“We are thrilled that Doha has become a key player in the region to this kind of art, which reflects the local cultural openness,” The Social Studio managing director Hamzeh Zahr said.
“We are also happy to see an interest from the public sector, represented by the QTA, to support Qatari startup companies with an aim to create local success stories that can represent Qatar in the entertainment industry,” he added.
“Cementing this is the fact that DCF hosted close to 50 local, Arab and international comedians, and attracted an audience of more than 12,000 over the past few years,” Zahr noted.
