Qatar beach volleyball team of Cherif Younousse and Jefferson Pereira defeated Germany’s Bockermann and Fluggen 2-0 in their first match at the World Beach Volleyball Championship which kicked off on Friday in Vienna and lasts until August 6.
Qatar managed to beat the German team, the champion of the Olsztyn International Beach Tour, which was recently held in Poland, 21-19 in the first set and 21-15 in the second set.
Qatar will face Venezuelan counterpart today.
The draw put Qatar in Group B with Latvia, Germany, and Venezuela.
The Qatari team has qualified for the second time in their history to the World Championship after being crowned the champions of the Asian Beach Volleyball Championship (Qatar Masters), which was held in Doha in May, following their victory over the Australian team 2-1 in the final match.
