United Development Company (UDC), master developer of The Pearl-Qatar, has inaugurated two prayer halls - one for men and another for women - at 1 La Croisette, Porto Arabia.
This comes as part of an integrated plan to expand prayer spaces in Porto Arabia and is in line with UDC’s “commitment to provide facilities of the highest standards to meet the needs of the island’s residents and visitors”, according to a press statement.
The new prayer hall for men can accommodate up to 50 worshippers whereas the women’s prayer hall has a capacity of 25. Each hall has a dedicated ablution room and a prayer ‘mihrab’, and is decorated with illuminated ‘musharrabiyah’ screens and traditional Arabic ‘kufi’ calligraphy, which “embodies Islamic art in a modern touch that seamlessly blends with the general architecture of Porto Arabia”, the statement notes.
UDC recently completed maintenance works and renovation of the Grand Mosque at the entrance of The Pearl-Qatar, as well as two mosques that were inaugurated last year near Qatar District Cooling Plant (Qatar Cool) and the Isola Dana precinct.
Medina Centrale is currently home to four prayer halls located near Spinneys supermarket and Souq Al Medina.
