Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim Foundation has announced the total amounts of its charitable activities during the first half of this year, which included many projects inside and outside the country worth QR170mn.
According to the Foundation, internal projects included cash and supply assistance, monthly and health guarantees, debt payment, tuition fees payment and marriage assistance, in addition to supporting cultural, social and educational activities costing more than QR12mn.
It said that outside projects focused on development areas, especially health, education and housing at a cost of QR157mn to benefit thousands of Muslims in Asian and
African countries.
Saeed al-Hajri, CEO, Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim Foundation, said, “The projects implemented by the Foundation during the first half of this year were characterised by diversity and sustainability, which is taking into consideration the foundation’s slogan “Health and Education for a Better Life”.”
He pointed out that the internal projects focused on providing social assistance to needy families and individuals and monthly guarantees, while the Foundation focused through its external activities to support and develop healthcare and education services in a number of countries including Morocco, Palestine, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India and other countries.
He noted that the Foundation announced this year development projects in the areas of health and education in Morocco, and that the cost of health projects is estimated at QR92mn implemented in stages.
Al-Hajri said that the foundation has launched a hospital project in Bakr in Punjab province of Pakistan, with a capacity of 50 beds at a cost of QR30mn and expected to finish the project by the end of 2018.
In the Gaza Strip, the Foundation inaugurated Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Center for Daily Care in co-operation with Qatar’s National Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, at a cost of $5mn.
Al-Hajri pointed out that the project aims to provide specialised rehabilitation services for people with multiple and permanent disabilities and to provide them with the necessary care in treatment, social, health and  
rehabilitation.
Concerning the housing projects, he confirmed the completion of the second phase of Sheikh Jassim Model City in Manar province of Sri Lanka, which included 556 housing units at an estimated cost of more than QR11.2mn.
The project, which is expected to be fully completed in 2019, includes 2,000 housing units at a total cost estimated at QR40mn.
The Foundation opened an industrial training institute in Dabhol of India’s Maharashtra state, at a total cost of more than QR2mn.
The capacity of the centre is estimated to be between 128 and 200 students per year, who are expected to be employed in major companies in the region.
The CEO said that the charity is organising immunisation, vaccinations and health campaigns in a number of African and Asian countries at an estimated cost of QR1mn.
The Foundation has taken care of the processing and operation of Jassim Primary Health Care Clinic in Al-Azraq camp in Jordan, at a total cost of QR2.8mn, noting that the clinic provides free healthcare to about 7,000 Syrian refugees per month.
