The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that it will close the exit and entrance at Umm Birka Interchange and divert traffic to an alternative road running parallel to the closed one (see map).

The diversion will start on July 27 and continue for 75 days, the authority has said in a statement.
The traffic diversion is required to enable work on laying 'sewer rising mains' as part of the work on the Al Thakhira sewage treatment plant, transfer pumping station and associated pipelines, the statement noted.
Ashghal has requested all road users to abide by speed limits and follow diversion signs to ensure their safety.
Ashghal has also reminded road users to exercise special care while driving to their campsite by further reducing speed as necessary.
