Different public facilities and services have been provided at beaches around the country and necessary upgrades carried out, the Ministry of Municipality of Environment (MME) has said.
The MME stressed in a statement yesterday that the municipalities in Qatar pay special attention to the development of beaches, which are considered a vital recreational option and much-sought-after destinations for people to spend their holidays.
Among the popular beaches are Simaisma, Al Wakrah family beach, Al Farikah in Al Khor, Al Thakhira Corniche and Al Kharayij family beach in Umm Bab, in addition to other beaches in the north.
Simaisma beach in Daayen Municipality is a favourite family destination and the municipality has strived to develop it in order to give visitors a convenient and enjoyable experience, the statement notes. It includes green areas with a small garden as well as 18 big shades and 15 small ones, along with open places for barbecue. In addition, it hosts 121 palm trees, 265 sidra trees and various seasonal plants.
Al Wakrah family beach is located some 7km from the heart of Al Wakrah city, and has open areas for barbecue, kids’ play areas and other facilities such as toilets, etc. Sustainability concepts have been applied in the use of energy and its rationalisation, with solar power being utilised to provide lighting facilities there.
These and the other beaches enjoy a considerable turnout of visitors and they are equipped with the necessary services and facilities.
