The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME)'s Agriculture Affairs Department will hold the 10-day second Dates Festival from July 27 at Souq Waqif.
The festival is being held under the patronage of HE the Minister of Municipality and sponsored by the Souq Waqif management. It will see the participation of 57 Qatari farms, a two-third increase over the previous year, the MME has said in a press statement.
The participating farms will display their produce for sale to the public during the festival. The local date production amounts to 28,877 tonnes a year, which covers up to 81% of the local consumption, the statement notes.
The MME's Agriculture Affairs Department, Agriculture Research Department, Hassad Food and Qatfa Company are also taking part in the festival.
