Al Gharafa have signed Al Rayyan’s former striker Ahmed Alaaeldin on a two-year contract, the club confirmed yesterday in a press conference.
The club’s deputy football director Saad Sattam al-Shemari and head coach Jean Fernandez attended the press conference along with Taha al-Muhaiza, the club’s media official.
Al-Shemari said Alaaeldin needs no introduction and is a strong addition to the squad, noting that he had wished to sign him for many years.
For his part, the player expressed his delight to join Al Gharafa, saying that he is no stranger to the club and many of his friends play for the Cheetahs. “I was greatly welcomed by supporters and I hope to live up to their expectations.”
Al Gharafa announced yesterday the signing of former El Jaish defender Yousuf Muftah on a three-year deal.
They had also signed Chilean midfielder Luis Jimenez, Portuguese midfielder Diogo Amado and Venezuelan defender Rubert Quijada.

Gharafa also secure Muftah deal
QSL side Al Gharafa has continued their busy summer transfer window, securing the signature of Qatari player Yusef Muftah on a three-year contract.
Muftah, who had previously represented El Jaish, was presented to the media on Monday evening, in the presence of club officials and Cheetahs head coach Jean Fernandez. The dependable left-back has signed a three-year deal with the side, and has been handed the number eight shirt for Gharafa.
Talking on his ambitions with the club, the 29-year-old defender noted that he is hoping for trophies with the side. “I came to Al Gharafa because I believe that we can challenge for titles this season. We have a good squad, with strong local players and professionals and should be able to compete in the QSL.”

Mahmoud extends Umm Salal stay
QSL side Umm Salal has further strengthened their side ahead of the 2017/2018 QSL campaign, confirming that midfielder Ismail Mahmoud has signed a contract extension with the club.
Orange Fortress officials confirmed the news, adding that Mahmoud has signed a one-year deal with the club with an extension option. Mahmoud has been one of Umm Salal’s most consistent players in recent years, and despite missing a large chunk of last season with an injury has been rewarded with a new deal.
The 30-year-old midfielder retuned to training on Monday evening, to rejoin his team-mates who have begun preseason training ahead of the new season.
