The Lamjung Service Society-Qatar (LSS) organised its 12th convention recently at Garden Village Restaurant in Doha. The convention was chaired by Prithvi Subba Gurung, former Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister of Nepal, and Mani Ratna Sharma, Charge de Affairs at Nepal’s embassy. Representatives from different community organisations also attended. 
The convention started with a candle lighting ceremony to a tune played on Panche Baja, five Nepali native musical instruments. 
Khusiram Gurung, LSS vice-chair delivered the welcome speech. Artists performed the national anthem of Nepal while carrying the national flag. This was followed by a one-minute silence for Nepali migrant workers who have lost their lives abroad. The convention hall was decorated with posters highlight the tourism potential of Lamjung district.
The “piggy bank initiative,” meant for emergency funds, was also inaugurated at the programme. The outgoing working committee presented a progress report of their tenure. 
Prithvi Subba Gurung talked about the future prospects of tourist destinations in Lamjung district.
The convention re-elected Bishnu Lal Shrestha as its chair. 
Other members of the working committee are Khusiram Gurung as first vice-chair, Nabraj Nakhola as second vice-chair, Sitaram Thapa general secretary, Binod Basaula treasurer and Youbraj Gurung as secretary.
