His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Khalifa al-Thani’s Sha’Hir won his second Group title by impressing in the DIAR Stockholm Arabian Cup (Gr3 PA), at Bro Park, Sweden on Tuesday.
Ridden by Mickael Forest, Sha’Hir won the 1,800-metre race easily ahead of Maria Hagman-Eriksson’s Jaldi Karo, who was the runner up under Per-Anders Graberg.
Landgoed Waterland’s Athlete Del Sol, trained by Karin R. van den Bos, was ridden to third by Carlos Lopez.
“He was very impressive,” Sha’Hir trainer Francois Rohaut said. “I don’t think he will go to Newbury because I have better horses for the month of July. Sha’Hir will go to Deauville, like the horses who are aiming for Newbury, and we will see how he is. We never know; he might go; who knows! We will think about it when it’s the right time.”
Another one of Sheikh Mohamed’s horses, Rawah also emerged as a winner. Also trained by Rohaut, Rawah won the DIAR Arabian Fillies and Mares Turf after a confident ride by Forest.
Al Nujaifi Racing Ltd’s Hurra, ridden by Shane Karlsson, was second for trainer Pia Hoiom. Yas Horse Racing Management LLC’s Maolie, helmed by Fanny Olsson, was third.
The three winners of the Purebred Arabian races held on Tuesday at Bro Park qualified for the Dubai International Arabian Races to be run at Newbury on July 30.
