The Ministry of Interior (MoI) celebrated Eid al-Fitr with different expatriate communities at the Amphitheater of the Asian Town located in the Industrial Area.
The celebration attended by Asian communities, featured Indian, Bengali and Nepalese cultural shows.
It also included a number of awareness shows on the security and safety services provided by the ministry as well as the police’s role in the community and the importance of the harmonious relation it has with the public supporting the co-operation between both parties to sustain security and facilitate services provided by government entities to the public.
Director of the Security Media Department of MoI’s Public Relations, Captain Hadi Mohamed al-Hajri said the celebration is a partnership between the ministry and the foreign communities in Qatar and is part of a number of events and activities organised by the ministry’s public relations department.
The ministry is organising another event for the foreign communities in the Al Khor Industrial Area.
Al-Hajri reaffirmed the ministry’s keenness to organise such events to entertain the Asian communities, especially labourers “who are making great efforts in construction projects around the country”.
Events organised by or with MoI for different occasions are held to entertain and raise awareness to benefit foreign communities residing in Qatar, where they are informed about the services provided by different government entities as well as about laws, customs and traditions of Qatar.
It also provided them with information on safety and security, al-Hajri added.
Asian Town is a major commercial complex that includes cinema, cricket field, amphitheatre and other sports facilities to cater for the expat labour communities that work on construction projects and help them overcome their homesickness, shop and enjoy.
