Qatar Airways has renewed its partnership with the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation’s programme - Educate A Child (EAC), for the third consecutive year. Since 2014, Qatar Airways has raised over QR9.6mn.
The Educate A Child programme was launched in 2012 by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, chairperson, Qatar Foundation, as a global programme of the Education Above All Foundation.
Qatar Airways has supported the programme since 2014 when it hosted the inaugural function in New York to announce the partnership. The airline allocates one full page of editorial content to the programme on a monthly basis, and an informational EAC video is shared on-board on its in-flight entertainment system to help boost donations.
Akbar al-Baker, chief executive, Qatar Airways Group, said, “As the national carrier of Qatar, we are pleased to continue our longstanding relationship with Educate A Child, and support the Education Above All Foundation. Since 2014, together with our passengers, we have raised over QR9.6mn and will continue to donate to this worthy cause. With an estimated 61mn primary school-aged children in the world who currently have no access to education, we, as a global corporate citizen, have a responsibility to give back to communities.”
Passengers can donate when booking a flight on Qatar Airways’ website www.qatarairways.com, and while using the on-board donation envelopes collected by cabin crew. The airline leverages its numerous communications platforms, including its in-flight entertainment system, Oryx Magazine, and its social media channels, to reach over 38mn passengers per year to raise awareness of the Educate A Child programme.
When booking online, a small dialogue box highlights the many Educate A Child donation options that vary from a minimum of $1 to a maximum of $50. When on-board, cabin crew invite passengers to donate any amount, in any currency via the seat back
envelopes.
