The  existing U-turn on Al Luqta Street will be done away with to enable the construction of an underpass on the Dukhan Highway East project.
The minor road change, which is located near Naqa Al Sahla Street in the Bani Hajer area, has been made in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic. The traffic change will commence tomorrow (June 23) and is expected to be in operation until February next year.
The U-Turn on Al Luqta Street,  near one of the Education City entrances will be closed. As shown on the map, road users who are travelling eastbound on Al Luqta Street wishing to return to Dukhan are advised to continue straight and perform a U-turn prior to the Naqa Al Sahla Street traffic signal.
Truck drivers and other heavy vehicles will be required to continue to the Naqa Al Sahla Street traffic signal, turn right and perform a U-Turn at the designated heavy vehicle turnaround point (shown on the top right of the map) and return to the Naqa Al Sahla Street traffic signal before turning left towards Dukhan.
Ashghal has said the newly created U-turn will only provide one lane for road users to turnaround. It is also required to reduce the number of lanes on Al Luqta Street for the short section of road between the old U-Turn point and the new U-Turn point from three lanes to two lanes.
