Weather charts indicate that the country will continue to be affected by fresh to strong northwesterly winds, locally known as AlBawarih, until this weekend due to the “extension of the Indian Monsoon Low” over the region, the Qatar Met department has said.
The wind speed is expected to range between 15 knots and 25 knots, going up to 30-35 knots at times during the daytime.
The wind speed will decrease at night with a noticeable drop in humidity in general.
The northerly windy conditions are expected to result in an increase in the wave height (4-8ft) and low visibility (below 3km at times) due to blowing dust, especially in open areas, according to the weather report. In addition, high temperatures fluctuating around the mid-40C levels are expected to continue over most areas. The Met Department has urged people to be cautious and avoid exposure to direct sunlight as well as to follow latest updates through its official social media accounts.
A maximum temperature of 43C is expected today in Doha, Mesaieed and Wakrah. Yesterday, the maximum was 45C in Doha, Al Rayyan, Mesaieed and Turayna.
