Katara – the Cultural Village continues to celebrate Ramadan with an array of art exhibitions, workshops and activities, which aims to enhance the art scene in Qatar and spread awareness about the importance of every culture and civilisation.
Dubbed as ‘Katara Ramadan Festival 2017,’ the celebration provides an opportunity for visitors to discover the hospitality traditions of Muslims in different countries.
It features a variety of lectures, exhibitions, competitions, entertainment and educational activities for all ages.
The ‘Find Your Treasure Competition,’ which kicked off on June 2, will continue until June 23.
Participants are required to look for 10 hidden treasure boxes (from 9.30pm to 11.30pm) based on the clues on a treasure map.
Katara said each weekly winners will receive QR2,000 and other prizes.
According to the organisers, there is no registration required, “just follow the map and be part of the adventure.”
Katara is also hosting an art workshop dubbed as the ‘A sculpture of your baby’s feet, which takes place until June 22 at Katara Art Studio building 19 from 9.30pm to 11.30pm.
Only five female students are allowed for every workshop. Registration fee is QR200 and the workshop is conducted in English.
The ‘Meerat Ramadan at Katara,’ which started on May 11 and ends on June 27, offers a wide array of groceries from various Qatari food-supply companies at a cheaper prices during the month-long fasting.
Meanwhile, the seventh edition of the Katara Beach Football Championship, which saw 12 teams competing (all named after the cities and the regions in Qatar), has concluded.
The sports competition aims to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
Katara also organised the recently concluded sixth consecutive edition of the Qur’an memorisation sessions for children born between 2003 and 2010. It aims to raise the young generation and enforce their bond with their Islamic identity and principles of their true religion.
