The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has launched physiotherapy services at Al Shamal Health Centre. The facility will receive referrals from Al Shamal, Al Ghwaireya and Al Ka’aban health centres.

Physiotherapy clinics will provide services to visitors from 14 to 70 years old, on Sundays and Tuesdays for women, and Thursdays for men, from 8am to 1pm.
According to Dr Thajba Mubarak al-Bader, head of the physiotherapy department at PHCC, there are specific criteria to refer the patients to the physiotherapy clinics, the most important of which is clear diagnosis for the case.
Dr al-Bader pointed out that the scope of services in the physiotherapy clinics at PHCC differs from Hamad Medical Corporation physiotherapy clinics. The treatment includes cases of rheumatic diseases, joints stiffness, incontinence, pain, muscle weakness, arthritis and other chronic diseases.
He stressed that the service of physiotherapy clinic includes prevention of falling programmes for elderly people, osteoporosis education programmes, self-treatment programmes, breathing exercises for respiratory patients, counselling for patients with obesity, pre-diabetes symptoms, and diabetes prevention programmes.
