The General Directorate of Traffic has impounded 274 vehicles during the first week of the holy month of Ramadan for violation of speed limit, stunt driving and illegally modified mufflers.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah quoted Brigadier Mohamed Saad al-Kharji, director, General Directorate of Traffic, pointing out that the campaign to spot traffic violation on the road started ahead of Ramdan, but it has intensified during the holy month.
The campaign aims at spotting the risky behaviour of young people who practise stunt driving on public roads.
He said that the impounded vehicles are booked at the department concerned at the Industrial Area and the headquarters of the Traffic Department.
Brigadier al-Kharji also said the traffic patrols have managed to spot the vehicle seen in a stunt driving video shared on social media recently. The vehicle was spotted within 24 hours of posting of the video. The traffic police identified the vehicle through its specifications.
