Doha
The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) on Thursday opened a new underpass as part of the East Street 33 Interchange on its Rawdat Al Khail Street Extension project.
The underpass, along with the recently opened flyover on Industrial Road, would facilitate free-flowing traffic between Doha and the Industrial Area, the authority said on Twitter.
The 1km underpass is located at the intersection of East Industrial Street and Industrial Area Road and has three lanes in each direction, as reported in Gulf Times recently.
The new underpass will enable "free-flowing traffic on East Industrial Street" and provide "direct, non-stop access from Salwa Road to the Industrial Area".
The opening of the underpass represents the completion of a key component of the three-level East Street 33 Interchange, one of five multi-level interchanges of the Rawdat Al Khail project, according to Ashghal, which also stressed that the interchange with its new flyover and underpass "would significantly relieve traffic congestion in the area, with a large number of motorists accessing commercial and residential properties".
