Lebanon is seeking to ban the US superhero film Wonder Woman because the lead actress, Gal Gadot, is Israeli.
The Ministry of Economy and Trade said on Tuesday it is filing an official request to the General Directorate of General Security, an intelligence agency, to ban the public screening of the film.
A security source said that the ban is "likely to take place in alignment with the Lebanon's policies."
However, the ministry failed to ban Batman vs Superman last year, a film in which Gadot had also starred.
Gadot is known for her support for the Israeli government.
Posters of Wonder Woman have been put up across Beirut in the past few weeks.
Gadot, who was Miss Israel 2004 before she broke into films, performed two years of compulsory service in the Israel Defence Forces.
Lebanon is officially in a state of war with Israel and has boycotted Israeli products for decades and also bars any Lebanese citizens from travelling or having contacts with any Israeli national.
