A Doha criminal court has sentenced a Gulf national to one year in jail and a fine of QR5,000 for keeping unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that the man was also accused of firing at his friend and injuring him, a matter that was resolved by reconciliation of the two parties. The issue started when the defendant and his friend, the victim, went on a trip outside Doha in his vehicle. On the way, a dispute broke out between them and the defendant pointed a gun that he used to keep inside his vehicle, towards his friend and fired, injuring him. At the court the victim reconciled with the defendant and renounced his rights.
