The Ministry of Municipality and Environment’s (MME) Public Cleaning Department has completed preparations to meet the high demand for its services during the holy month of Ramadan.
The department has provided a large number of garbage containers and made round-the-clock schedule for the service vehicles for timely services.
Director Safar Mubarak al-Shafi stressed that the department pays this time of the year special care due to the high consumption rates of the inhabitants.
He said that more focus would be given to the main and commercial streets, in addition to the entertainment areas, Corniche, the Central Market, and the slaughterhouses, where the garbage containers are scheduled to be removed more frequently.
Similarly, Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality maintenance and transport section has supervised the cleaning and maintenance of the fish market at the municipality to ensure its readiness for Ramadan.
In addition, the Municipality has launched a new project to maintain the cleanliness of its beaches in co-operation with the MME’s Islands and Beaches Cleanness Section.
An agreement has been made to keep the beaches clean.
