HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, held a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Britain Theresa May.
During the call, the Emir and the British premier reviewed bilateral relations between Qatar and the UK and means of boosting them, and discussed the regional and international developments.
Qatar-Palestine ties reviewed
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani held a telephone conversation with the President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas.
During the call, the Emir and the Palestinian president discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and reviewed the latest developments on the Palestinian arena.
Emir issues decrees
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani issued the following decrees yesterday:
1. Decree No 28 of 2017 ratifying an agreement on the promotion and protection of mutual investments between the governments of Qatar and the Kyrgyz Republic, signed in Doha on December 8, 2014.
2. Decree No 29 of 2017 ratifying a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the fields of industrial co-operation between the governments of Qatar and Kuwait signed in Doha on January 11, 2016, which shall have the force of law in accordance with Article 68 of the Constitution.
3. Decree No 23 of 2017 ratifying a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on co-operation in the fields of oil, gas and petrochemicals between the Government of the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait, signed in Doha on January 11, 2016, which shall have the force of law in accordance with Article 68 of the Constitution.
Cabinet decision ratified
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday ratified the Cabinet decision No 22 of 2017 approving the application of the provisions of Law No 24 of 2002 on retirement and pensions of Qatari employees working in Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charity.
Instruments of ratification
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday issued the following instruments of ratification:
1. Instrument of ratification endorsing the amended protocol of Marrakesh Agreement establishing the World Trade Organisation and it annexed Trade Facilitation Agreement.
2. Instrument of ratification approving the ratification of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
3. Instrument of ratification endorsing a draft MoU on co-operation in the field conservation of biodiversity and wildlife between the Ministry of Municipality and Environment of Qatar and the State Committee for Environmental Protection and Land Resources of Turkmenistan, which was signed in Doha on March 15, 2017.
4. Instrument of ratification endorsing an air services agreement between the governments of Qatar and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, which was signed in Doha on March 20, 2017.
5. Instruments approving Qatar joining of the Rome Convention for the Protection of Performers, Producers of Phonograms and Broadcasting Organisations.
Emir greets Norway king
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday sent cables of congratulations to King Harald V of Norway on his country’s National Day.
MoPH intensifies food inspections
The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has stressed that it has intensified inspection of imported food products ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
This is being done to ensure the compliance of such food items with the conditions laid down in relevant GCC technical regulations and standards.
The MoPH inspects imported food across the different points of entry — land, sea and air — into the country with the help of more than 80 trained employees.
In a statement, the ministry said various ports in the country received some 594,924,383kg of imported foods in the first quarter of this year.
The quantum of imported food rejected during this period was 849,125kg, and 421,244kg of this was destroyed. Another 638,503kg were re-exported.
