As part of its expansion plans in 2017, Commercial Bank is expecting to open another branch at the Doha Festival City “later this year”, an official has said.
“We will look at selective opportunities to open new branches. Our target is to basically open branches where our customers are,” said Amit Sah, executive general manager of Consumer Banking & Retail Banking at Commercial Bank.
Speaking to Gulf Times on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the bank’s Mall of Qatar branch yesterday, the official also said Commercial Bank experienced loan growth in the first quarter of 2017.
During the same period, Commercial Bank chief executive Joseph Abraham said the bank also witnessed growth in the bank’s customer base.
“We are continuously growing our customer base. In the wholesale bank side, we grew almost 7% during the first quarter, which is actually faster than the market,” he said.
He added: “Since we have a clear five-year strategy in place, and with the full support of the board, we have raised capital. We are also looking at our processes, which focus on client experience. Our focus is also on digital and digitisation, as well as new products.
Qatar is our home market and we must continuously expand our customer base both on the corporate and retail side.”
