Qatar Charity (QC) has concluded a horse-riding training project for orphans in the Gaza Strip, benefiting some 100 children aged between 12 and 15 years.
The orphans were given the two-month training in co-operation with Tomooh Association. They attended 20 classes of 90 minutes each under the supervision of the
implementing association.
QC’s project aims to conduct recreational activities for orphans, inculcating the spirit and values of equestrianism in them as well as encouraging and preparing them to participate in horse-riding, according to a statement.
Mohamed Abu Haloub, director of the QC office in Gaza, expressed contentment over conclusion of the project, which promotes the orphans’ leadership skills as well as their physical, psychological and social health. He stressed that horse-riding helps build children’s personality in order to serve their country and society.
Mohamed Kayali, head of Tomooh Association, noted that the project enhances orphans’ confidence and helps them in a manner consistent with their aspirations and the horse-
riding hobby.
“Thanks to the generous philanthropists of Qatar for supporting the Palestinian people, especially the orphans’ group, and our appreciation is also extended to Qatar Charity for implementing important
development projects,” he added.
On the occasion, the people of Qatar in general – and donors in particular – were thanked for their generosity and support. At the end of the ceremony, QC honoured the trainees and gave them certificates of
appreciation.
A shield was also presented to Qatar Charity for supporting the orphans and poor families in the Gaza Strip.
The initiative is part of a large number of projects implemented by QC to help the orphans of Gaza live decently. The orphans sponsored by QC in Gaza numbers more than 8,000, the
statement adds.
