The Ministry of Municipality and Environment’s (MME) Public Cleaning Department has introduced shaded cleaning trollies.
The initiative is meant to protect cleaners from the sun during summer. The lightweight trollies are considered the first of their type. The new trollies will be used from this week at all the commercial streets of the country.
Safar al-Shafi, director of MME public Cleaning Department, stressed that MME has always been keen to improve and upgrade its services while taking care of the welfare of its workers by providing them with the latest equipment that helps them do their work efficiently with minimum hardship. Meanwhile, Doha Municipality’s general control inspectors has conducted an inspection campaign on street vendors and public cleaning at Al Asmakh Area.
The campaign was conducted in co-operation with the Ministry of Economy and Commerce and the security department concerned at the Ministry of Interior. The campaign resulted in spotting a number of violations by street vendors, and seizure of some abandoned animals and a substantial amount of food items including vegetables and fruits which were unfit for human consumption.
