The Emir Cup trophy tour continues across the country with great success as Qatar’s most popular football tournament reaches the final stages.
This year’s edition – the 45th since the tournament began – made stops at schools around the country and the accompanying QFA delegation has been received with enthusiasm for the popular event.
This time the trophy tour visited three clubs that have reached the semi-finals – Al Sadd, Lekhwiya and El Jaish.
More stops will be made at government institutions, private sector offices and organisations.
The trophy tour gives football fans – young and old – the opportunity to get a glimpse of the popular trophy and know more about the history of the tournament from the visiting QFA delegation.
There was a wave of excitement when the Emir Cup trophy tour visited the Al Sadd Sports Club where first team stars Hassan al-Haydos and Abdul Kareem Hassan joined in for pictures and football-related interaction with fans.
The QFA delegation was headed by Nadeem Hussain at Al Sadd where youngsters asked the players questions on the Emir Cup.
It may be recalled that Al Sadd has won the prestigious event 15 times and their last triumph came in 2015 when they beat El Jaish.
A large number of club officials, administration staff and youth team players were present at the gathering.
The trophy tour also visited Lekhwiya where Mohamed Musa and Hilal al-Qahtani welcomed the QFA delegation.
The club’s senior members and staff members also joined in the photo session that was followed by a Q&A session.
The two players urged club members to be part of the event when the final takes place on May 19.
The Emir Cup trophy tour concluded with a stop at El Jaish training that took place at Khalifa Secondary School for Boys.
The QFA delegation was greeted by Majdi Siddiq, Abdulrahman Akbar and Mohamed Faraj. The delegation included El Jaish players and officials also.
