Qatar University (QU) is set to launch the first session of the “Tajrebaty” initiative on May 11, which aims to provide the youth with a platform to exchange their ideas and experiences with the members of the community.
According to QU, the first session will see three guest speakers sharing their personal experiences. Dr Rashed bin Ali al-Kubaisi will talk about his experience in overcoming life challenges and realising goals while health culture activist Sabah al-Bahlani will share her experience in the education and the rehabilitation of children with special needs.
Visual artist Safiya al-Bahlani will give a talk entitled, “Art Speaks” in which she will share her experience. The session will also include an exhibition on Safiya’s artwork.
“This event reflects QU’s commitment in raising community awareness on the importance of personal experiences and initiatives and their positive impact on the development of the society in various educational and humanitarian areas,” QU’s student services and activities director Abdulla al-Yafei said. He added that QU also serves as a bridge between the academic sector and the society through strengthening collaboration with institutions from the public and private sectors.
Spreading the spirit of co-operation and volunteerism among students, al-Yafei noted, contributes to boosting their leadership and innovative skills, as well as their social responsibility in line with the Human Development Strategy and the goals of Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030.
Details of the ‘Tajrebaty’ event have been outlined by al-Yafei, Tajrebaty Initiative founder Engineer Ibrahim al-Sada, Qatar’s Ministry of Culture and Sports public relations department head Saud al-Dulaimi, and Qatar’s Youth Hostels Association deputy CEO Ahmed al-Obeidli, among others.
Established in 1983, the Association contributes to the community through the organisation of various annual events and programmes that target youth.
“The Tajrebaty initiative aims to promote the role of youth in the development and growth of the human civilisation through knowledge-sharing,” al-Sada said. “We hope that it will become a prestigious platform at the regional level.”
Al-Dulaimi noted that the Ministry of Culture and Sports is supporting the initiative based on a directive from the Minister HE Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali to support Qatar’s youth.
“This also aligns with the ministry’s vision and strategy towards a society with an authentic conscience and a healthy body,” he said. “The ministry welcomes Qatar’s youth to showcase their initiatives towards the fulfilment of the goals of QNV 2030.”
