Fish found in the Qatari waters are safe and free from any disease or pollutant, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has said in a statement.
The MME stressed that the results of field and laboratory tests conducted by the department concerned on fish found in the national waters confirmed their health and safety. Besides, no cases of dead fish had been reported from there.
The ministry, through its specialised entities, has closely monitored recent reports on the collective death of fish in some neighbouring countries. In addition, the MME regularly follows up on and checks the condition of local waters to ensure their safety with regard to fish.
There is also a marine observatory programme supervised by the MME to detect changes in the marine ecosystem in Qatar.
Any rumour regarding the pollution of local fish with poisonous substances that harmful for one’s health are completely false and all analysis results have affirmed the safety of the waters and fish, the ministry has noted.
