A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced a Nepalese man to three years in jail and subsequent deportation for counterfeiting the application for 33 business visas and selling entry visas for others.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that the defendant counterfeited the signature of his employer and used his ID to apply for the visas and sold them.
Investigations revealed that he also sold 200 other entry visas for QR400,000 within one and a half years.
His criminal actions were discovered when the employer, while reviewing some papers of the company, came across the number of visas issued for the company and asked the defendant about them, who admitted issuing them.
Accordingly, the employer informed the department concerned to get a report on the number of visas that had been issued to the company lately and filed a complaint with the authorities against the defendant.
