Bangladesh Film Directors Association has declared boycott of superstar Shakib Khan for indefinite period for his ‘derogatory remarks’ on directors and actors.
Association chief Badiul Alam Khokan alleged that Shakib recently made derogatory remarks insulting film directors while talking to journalists.
Following this, the association sent a legal notice to Shakib on April 25 and asked all directors to postpone shooting with the actor until the matter comes to an end.
However, the popular Bangla film actor didn’t give any reply to it, forcing the film directors to take the decision, Khokan said while reading out a written statement.
Besides, the association scrapped the membership of director Shamim Ahmed Rony for continuing shooting with Shakib for new movie Rangbazz, violating the association’s decision.
Shakib has been hitting headlines since his actress wife Apu Biswas came in a live television talk show on April 10 and disclosed that she got married with Shakib in 2008 and the couple has a baby boy too.
The surprising turn of events witnessed Apu Biswas and her infant son on a live TV programme. The heart-felt and tragic tell-all interview captivated millions and gripped the attention of the media throughout the country.
The event occurred after a two-year self-imposed exile during which Apu mysteriously disappeared from the limelight.
The talk show featured the once highly sought actress Apu Biswas revealing that her son was fathered by film superstar Shakib Khan.
The claim was later confirmed by the father in question himself, who stated, “He is my son, but I will not take any responsibility for Apu.”
The statement roused much controversy on social media, giving rise to speculations on the actor arranging a press
conference.
This rumour was rebutted by Shakib Khan, who said, “Why would I arrange a press conference when I was not the one to spread the news?”
However, the actor has had a change of heart and in a statement given later said: “It had come as an angry surprise to me when Apu appeared on television with my son in that manner. However, I have made a decision; I would like for all of us to live as a family. This choice has been made deliberately on my own part, and I am not afraid of the consequences it will have on my career. My fans have been loyal throughout these years, and I have faith that they will stand by me now.”
The issue of Apu and Shakib tying the knot had been under media speculation for the last two years, along with the grapevine news that the actress had been in India for some time to deliver her son.
These claims were later cemented as fact by Apu Biswas in the momentous interview.
