Katara – the Cultural Village Foundation won an Arab Tourism Media Oscar award while representing Qatar at the ninth Arab Tourism Media Summit – 2017 in Dubai, the UAE.
During the ceremony, Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti was also granted the title of ‘First Government Leader’ for being the leader of the “most prominent and unique cultural institute to be established within the Arab region”, according to a press statement.
Commenting on the award, Dr al-Sulaiti said: “The award is a tribute to the ongoing efforts towards excellence, which is at the core of all the projects undertaken by the distinguished national team that works at Katara. Since its establishment, each of Katara’s successes can be attributed collectively to the administrative, management and intellectual efforts to implement our strategy, which is in alignment with the institutional frameworks that come under Qatar National Vision 2030.
“Our pride in the cultural successes that the State of Qatar has achieved so far reflects our pride in its heritage, identity and prosperity, none of which would have been possible without the comprehensive vision of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, who has spared no effort to support our heritage while reaching out and welcoming cultures and practices from other countries.”
The president of Arab Centre for Tourism Media, Hussein al-Mannai, said Qatar’s victory – represented by the success of the Cultural Village Foundation – is a “source of delight for everyone given the fact that Katara has become a renowned cultural and touristic destination within the Gulf region, synonymous with excellence in the promotion of all fine arts and inter-cultural performances”.
