A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced two Sri Lankan expatriate men to three years in jail and subsequent deportation for illicit drugs taking and trading.

Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that the court also fined them QR200,00 for the same crime.

The two were arrested by the Drugs Prevention Department of the Ministry of Interior, when information came to the department that they used sell the illicit drug Marijuana and consume hashish. Accordingly, an undercover policeman approached one of them, who sold him some marijuana for QR3,500. The transaction was done under the surveillance of a police patrol, who managed to arrest the defendant on the spot. Then, he lead to his accomplice, who was also arrested and a full search of their vehicles and accommodation revealed considerable amounts of the illicit drug wrapped and ready for circulation.
