The 2017 Qatar Cup is set to kick off with Al Sadd taking on rivals Al Rayyan in the first semi-final on Thursday evening.
In the second semi-final, reigning Qatar Stars League champions Lekhwiya will face off against El Jaish on Friday evening.
Ahead of the tournament, the Qatar Cup trophy is embarking on a promotional tour across Qatar to build excitement for the end-of-season tournament.
The first stop of the promotional tour was Al Bidda Tower, the home of Qatari football. A host of visitors, who had an opportunity to get up and close with the Qatar Cup, took photos with the trophy.
The tour is also set to take the trophy to a number of different locations across Qatar including local schools, malls, key sponsors and tourist attractions.
Players from the Qatar Cup teams will also be present at select locations on the tour, which has an overall aim of celebrating the tournament whilst also encouraging fans to come along to the two semi-finals and the showpiece final, which is set to take place on Saturday, April 29, at Al Sadd Stadium.
Speaking at the launch of the trophy tour, QSL Community Relations officer Nasser al-Kuwari said, “The promotional tour will offer the perfect opportunity for the general public to find out more about the Qatar Cup and the competition.”
