An estimated 380 radiologists, technologists and other allied health professionals from across Qatar and the region gathered in Doha for a three-day intensive Qatar Clinical Abdominal MRI Course (QCAM 2017) covering abdominal and pelvic imaging. 
Imaging professionals met to further enhance their knowledge and expertise, which will empower them to continue improving patient care today while shaping the industry standards with the most sophisticated technology, tomorrow.
Organised in co-operation with the Canadian-based University Health Network and Massachusetts General Hospital, the conference featured internationally renowned speakers from Harvard University in the US and University of Toronto in Canada. 
The scientific programme provided a comprehensive review of the newest developments in technology, including advanced imaging systems for biological and medical research and sessions focused on optimisation of MRI protocols, updated MRI applications for hepatobiliary diseases, pancreatic diseases, gastro-intestinal, kidney, prostate, adrenal and gynaecological disorders, as well as case-based reporting and panel discussions.
Dr Ahmed Omar, chairman,  Clinical Imaging Department, and chairperson of QCAM 2017, said: “The QCAM 2017 course is an intensive programme to enhance and strengthen skills in MRI abdominal imaging and intervention. It is about helping clinical imaging professionals provide the best possible patient care and improving the overall health of Qatar’s population through state-of-the-art medical imaging services and innovative solutions.” 
Dr Adham Darweesh, senior consultant and head of the body imaging section at Hamad General Hospital, said: “QCAM 2017 ensures that clinicians gain extensive, firsthand knowledge about new and emerging technologies in the imaging diagnosis of abdominal and pelvic pathology and allows clinicians to experience the positive impact of leading that further enhance our model of care.”
He added that such courses offer a meaningful platform for the global community to discuss and share advances and modern innovations in magnetic resonance. 
This is the third consecutive time HMC has held the highly regarded QCAM course, with the inaugural event taking place in May 2015. In addition to HMC staff, representatives from the Primary Health Care Corporation and private healthcare sector, as well as GCC medical centres, participated in the course.
